Tim Doi Pop-up, Folc Heads South and Paper Tiger’s Lemonade Stand

Get ready for some Southeast Asian snacks.

Get ready for some Southeast Asian snacks.

Before Arcade Midtown Kitchen closed its doors last May, the restaurant forged a friendship as tight as Joey and Chandler's in Friends. Cooks Kane William Sorrells and Jerald Head, both San Antonio natives with a penchant for pop-ups and supper clubs, launched Tim Doi, adding Southeast Asian street food to the city's landscape. The 20-somethings eventually landed gigs outside of San Antonio after Arcade's closing — Sorrells joined the staff at Austin's Qui while Head made his way to New York City's An Choi, a cool, funky Vietnamese restaurant with one of the best chicken bánh mis I've ever tasted. Head and Sorrells will visit San Antonio one last time before they both head to NYC this month with a "Backyard #Streeteats" pop-up on Friday, May 20 and 21 at Stay Golden Social House (401 Pearl Pkwy.). Get your final taste of Tim Doi — for now — next weekend.

If you've listened to Lemonade on repeat since its debut on April 23, if you fancy yourself Beyoncé or if you're more of a Becky With the Good Hair, you'll want to visit Paper Tiger's Lemonade Stand this Thursday, May 12 at 9 p.m. for guest DJs, watermelon and lemonade on special and all the slayage you can handle.

Get a taste of Ranger Creek Brewing & Distilling's newest brew — Hard Days Night Double IPA — during a six-course beer dinner at Sustenio (18603 La Cantera Terrace) this Friday at 6:30 p.m. Chef John Herdmann will dish up gulf crab toast, porchetta salad, "buffalo" sweet breads, crispy beer can chicken and bacon jalapeño meatloaf as paired with the brewstillery's lineup. Tickets are $55 per person; call (210) 598-2950 to reserve your spot.

Food lovers that live for fun plating and balanced American flavors can follow the staff at Folc as they head to Southtown this Sunday, May 15 at 5:30 p.m. for a six-course dinner with chef Diego Fernandez at Hearsay Urban Taste (709 S. Alamo St.). The dinner will be limited to 30 people at $80 per person and the dishes will be paired with rosés.

Order your basket for the next installment of Houston Street Food, which clears out Houston Street between Navarro and St. Mary's for a swanky picnic in the heart of Downtown on Sunday, May 15 at 11:30 a.m. Baskets, $50 per person, are available to order from Bohanan's Prime Steaks and Seafood, Lüke San Antonio, The Palm, Citrus and Market on Houston with wine and beer provided by Alamo Beer.
