A Go Fund Me campaign to raise $5,000 for
Alamo Rescue Friends is nearly halfway there, and if it makes it to its goal, Tito's Handmade Vodka will provide a $5,000 match to help injured and homeless dogs.
The dogs Alamo Rescue Friends helps are often injured and require medical care, before they are transported to New England to join a family.
For instance, Zoey, a German Shepherd that was impounded in San Antonio with multiple injuries, including a need for hip surgery and an amputation, needed three months to recover. Now Zoey is in New England working as a therapy dog for her adopter, who says, "Zoey is the teacher's pet in our training class. She is a superstar. We are in training to become a therapy dog and will be visiting wounded veterans, children's hospitals, and retirement communities."
Bert Butler "Tito" Beveridge II, founder of Tito's Handmade Vodka, is a San Antonio native who built the first legal distillery in Texas nearly 20 years ago, all while his Shepherd mix DogJoe was by his side. The company is full of dog lovers who want to give back.
Alamo Rescue Friends is also
selling 2016 calendars for $15 of dogs they've rescued. The sales help pay for medical costs for dogs in the rescue program.
