Remember that time, nearly two years ago now, that we all learned the hard way that we should probably be more invested in the American political apparatus? Good times, eh? As this year’s November elections approach, it is comforting to a certain degree to see just how many individuals and organizations are energizing, empowering and educating (particularly young) folks to get out and vote.

On that note, Texas Public Radio’s young professionals group Generation Listen, along with the League of Women Voters of San Antonio (LWVSA) and others, is hosting a panel discussion that will “discuss navigating the system, important issues and candidates, how to stay civically engaged outside of the election cycle and how to get other millennials involved.”

Panelists for the talk, which will be moderated by TPR’s Kim Johnson (who we’re proud to call a former intern), include Drew Galloway, executive director of MOVE Texas, and LWVSA board member Becca DeFelice. The evening will also include live poetry and music, a mixer and an opportunity to register to vote on site.

Free, Tue Aug 28, 6:30-8:30pm, Brick at Blue Star, 108 Blue Star, (210) 262-8653,
