Red dirt up-and-comers the Turnpike Troubadours made a solid Billboard debut with 2012’s Goodbye Normal Street, reaching No. 14 on the country charts and No. 57 on pop. Accolades aside, the band just plays some solid music. The six-piece crew from Oklahoma have the kind of sound that pairs well with driving through the hill country in a pickup truck with the windows down next to someone that you love. It’s poppy sure, but rustic enough for those that fancy the textures of acoustic instruments and solid musicianship.
