Two San Antonio Chefs To Be Featured in Prestigious Día de los Muertos Dinner in NY

The James Beard Foundation (a highly respected culinary organization) is hosting a Día de los Muertos dinner in honor of the holiday, calling for chefs from around the country to dish out modern Mexican fare.

Of the five chefs to headline the luxurious event, two will be representing the San Antonio food scene.

Among the talented chefs are San Antonio's own Diego Galicia and Rico Torres of Restaurant Mixtli, who recently received national nods from Food & Wine. Visiting chefs include Rogelio Garcia of The Commissary in San Francisco, Victor Parra Gonzalez of Las Puertas in Buffalo, New York and Jacob Rojas of Tallulah's Taqueria in Providence, Rhode Island.

The chefs, who all share a Mexican heritage, will dish out some flavorful fare, then attendees will hear special guest Victoria Price speak about her father Vincent Price's love for the Mexican cuisine.

If you find yourself in New York City, try to snag one of the $175 tickets to support our local chefs. The menu for the evening hasn't been released yet, but we're sure whatever Galicia and Torres create will represent San Antonio well.

$135-$175, Wednesday, November 1, 7 p.m., The Beard House, 167 W 12th St.,(212) 627-2308.
