U.S. Chamber and Spurs to Host Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair for Veterans and Military Spouses

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, along with lead sponsors USAA, Toyota, University of Phoenix and Call of Duty Endowment will host Hiring Our Heroes, a hiring fair for veterans and military spouses. Several employers are expected to participate with jobs available for veterans and military spouses of all ranks and levels of experience. Companies range from America's biggest employers to dozens of small companies from the region. The event will include a free Hiring Our Heroes employment workshop at 9:30am focusing on resume writing, interview skills, and job search techniques for all military members and their spouses. All pre-registered attendees to the fair can receive up to four free tickets for them and their families to attend that evening's game between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks. The Spurs are preparing a special tribute to U.S. troops that evening. There will also be a networking reception for military spouses, recovering warriors, and military caregivers on December 9 at the AT&T Center. The reception will run from 5:30pm- 7:30pm. Military spouses will have an opportunity to network with local HR recruiters, community leaders, and senior military spouses, receive resume support, and gain valuable career advice from industry professionals. Attendees will have the option to stay after the reception and watch the San Antonio Rampage game.

Dad's Karaoke
2615 Mossrock Dr., (210) 267-5703,
When “karaoke” is in the name, you can expect a venue name to have its shit together. This spot is perfect for times you just wanna get drunk and scream into a microphone. Slightly sleazy, the bar is a solid option for hours of uninhibited fun for just about anyone, especially first-timers trying to get their feet wet in the art of karaoke. Expect a crowd — or shall we say audience?

The White Rabbit
Look, most San Antonio music fans have no complaints with the Paper Tiger, a club that consistently brings tons of great touring acts to town. Even so, some who cut their teeth on the St. Mary's Strip still have fond memories of the White Rabbit, the venue that previously occupied the building. It's understandable that folks of a certain age, whether they played the older club or just caught shows there, would have some nostalgia tied up in the Rabbit.
