You can listen to the four recorded efforts (three LPs and the EP that started it all) from Warpaint to get a taste of the Los Angeles four-piece's brooding, artful, and gently psychedelic brand of indie rock. But, this really is one of those bands that you have to experience live in order to truly appreciate it. In the live setting, with the studio veneer absent and the band members given room to roam on their instruments, Warpaint's sound feels heavier, (somehow) moodier, and more complex/layered. For fans and the newbies alike, Saturday's show, the band's first in SA, is highly-recommended. As a bonus, since it’s been two years since Warpaint’s last release, we have a feeling they may be trying out some new material at this one.
