Last Thursday, Christa Brothers' Bismarck Studios celebrated "Franctober-Fest in August" with "Wunderbares," the latest art happening orchestrated by Rome Prize winner Franco Mondini-Ruiz. Sausages sizzled on the patio, wine and beer flowed, Rennie and the Happy Travelers played live polkas, impromptu treasurer David Zamora Casas (above right) marked territory with his signature shade of red, and Franco (above left) sold and signed so many of his high-kitsch sculptural vignettes that his Sharpie ran out of ink, forcing him to sign Cheesus of Nazareth (top) with a silver paint pen right on a hunk of wax cheddar. "Wunderbares" is on view through September 9 at Bismarck Studios (930 Proton, Ste 202, (210) 314-7747, bismarckstudios.com).
