Felines sing and dance in the world of Cats, one of the most celebrated family musicals of all time. The audience follows the tribe of Jellicle Cats as they meet on a special night of the year to rejoice as their leader, Old Deuteronomy, chooses one of them for a journey that will signify rebirth into a new life. With a plot based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats and award-winning music composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cats has been presented in more than 20 countries and in about 250 cities. This national tour of Cats is the only production in North America sanctioned by Webber — featuring original direction by Trevor Nunn and choreography by Gillian Lynne, this is the production credited with the British invasion of Broadway. A production of mesmerizing intensity, Cats is a superb melding of words, music, dancing, design, and direction. $10.50-62.50, 8pm Tuesday and Thursday-Saturday, 7:30pm Sunday, 2:30pm matinee Friday & Sunday, Majestic Theatre, 224 E. Houston,
