Performance Party XXIV

Posted on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 4:00 AM

Release Date: 2008-12-30
Celebrate Jump-Start’s 24th anniversary with a performance buffet of tasty acts served up by the usual, and some highly unusual, suspects. Confirmed performers include the Overtime Theater, poet Rodney Garza, comedian Joel Settles, Madmedia, Alisa Claridy, excerpts from the Vagina Monologues, and more. The annual fundraiser, benefiting Jump-Start’s original programming, has become a signature event on the winter performance list, and this year the company takes the idea of 24 to the limit — expect everything from 24 Karat gold to a marathon performance to a twisted take on the eponymous action show. Acts include season previews, big groups, solo performers, dance, live music, performance art, comedy, video, fire-eating, glamour, and the absurd. For the first time, there will be an online component to Performance Party: 24 Hours, 24 Artists, a 24-hour performance featuring 24 artists from around the world transmitted digitally to your desktop. $5 suggested donation, 6:30pm Saturday, Jump-Start, 108 Blue Star, (210) 227-5867.
