Revolting Cocks w/ Jim Rose Circus, Blownload, Left Spine Down, & Emily's Gone Mad

Critic's Pick Release Date: 2009-09-30

“Disgusting Roosters” might not be as catchy, but a more family-friendly name might’ve translated to more mainstream success. Or at least kept Britain’s home secretary Dennis Hurd from reportedly attempting to deny them work visas to keep their debauched live act out of the UK. Probably not, though. This industrial supergroup has existed in one form or another (mostly another) since 1985 and scored some club hits with the Blade Runner inspired “Attack Ships on Fire,” a cover of Rod Stewart’s “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy,” and possible Texas national anthem contender “Beers, Steers + Queers.” The group began as a side project for Ministry head Al Jourgensen and Front 242 percussionist Richard Jonckheere, but has since gone through so many lineup changes that Jourgensen himself compared it to Menudo. Also, their latest stuff sounds like store-brand Marilyn Manson, but we’re betting there’s plenty of less entertaining ways to spend a Thursday night than watching the latest batch of RevCos (Joshua “El Homo” Bradford, Sin “El Pecado Grande” Quirin, et al) act like a bunch of rebellious little you-know-whats. $15-$18, 8pm Thu, Oct 1, White Rabbit, 2410 N. St. Mary’s, sawhiterabbit.com
