v class="story">

Curator Gus Kopriva zones in on German works on paper from 1872 to 1945. An art-history lesson of sorts, Broken Brushes highlights a broad range of genres, including traditional portraiture, political commentary, and abstract-expressionist experimentation. Works from members of Die Brücke (The Bridge) and Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider), two avant-garde collectives fundamental to Expressionism, are clear standouts in this exploration of German art from a pivotal time period. For some expert insight, check out Kopriva’s “Collecting German Art” lecture at 6 p.m. Free, 6-8pm, UTSA Art Gallery, UTSA Main Campus Art Building, One UTSA Circle, (Free parking in
Lot 8) (210) 458-4391
