Can you believe Artpace is already 15 years old? That makes us feel positively ancient, but being closer to big-city artists has made the wrinkles well worth our while. In a nostalgic turn, Artpace has invited three past residents to create installations in their Main Avenue windows. First up to bat is David Zamora Casas, whose project “Picante” is a dedication to Artpace founder Linda Pace. Guests are encouraged to contribute to the altar-based “Picante” by bringing flowers, mementos, or “personal items that reflect your connection with Linda.” Opening in Artpace’s Hudson (Show)Room is an exhibition of text-based work and a film by Uruguayan-born, New York-based artist Alejandro Cesarco. He describes his project Index (2000-2008) as the “index to a book I haven’t yet written and most probably never will.” In 2008, Cesarco was one of 23 emerging artists chosen to receive a high-profile, one-year artist mentorship (in Cesarco’s case, the mentor was conceptual artist John Baldessari) and a hefty grant courtesy of Rolex. Free, 6:30pm, Artpace, 445 N. Main, (210) 212-4900, artpace.org
