Toby Keith

Posted on Wed, Feb 17, 2010 at 4:00 AM

Release Date: 2010-02-17

At one point, former oil-worker Toby Keith was about to throw in the towel. His personal deadline of landing a record deal by age 30 didn’t pan out, and he was getting awful tired of playing for tips in front of Houndogs Hot Dogs in Nashville. If it weren’t for a certain flight attendant who slipped Keith’s demo tape to a record executive mid-flight, we might not have had the pleasure of seeing the bizarre Law and Order-themed video (or subsequent movie) for Beer for My Horses, starring Keith and duet partner Willie Nelson. 2006’s White Trash With Money wouldn’t be included on dive bar jukeboxes everywhere, and we wouldn’t have a clue where to eat the next time we were in Oklahoma City if not for Keith’s “I Love This Bar & Grill.” None of our TK Steelman clothes would fit us anymore — in fact they wouldn’t be there at all. Dixie Chick Natalie Maines wouldn’t have bothered to wear that “FUTK” T-shirt to the Country Music Awards after that newsworthy political scuffle (unless it actually did stand for “Friends United in Truth and Kindness after all...). So, is anyone else out there wondering where we can find that benevolent air hostess these days? $10-$200, 7pm, AT&T Center, 1 AT&T Center, ticketmaster.com
