The Parental Advisory Tour

Release Date: 2010-04-28

Any band that’s capable of earning a Grammy nomination for performing a psychobilly song called “Fried Chicken and Coffee” probably deserves a listen. Lead guitarist Ruyter Suys (who was named one of the 12 Greatest Female Electric Guitarists by Elle Magazine in ’09) describes Nashville Pussy’s sound as “good old-fashioned, humping-in-the-back-seat-of-a-car rock ’n’ roll,” and has been known to strip down to her undies to give the audience a taste of whatever she’s drinking — by spraying it out of her mouth. But wait, there’s more! Green Jellÿ (who were ordered to change their name from Green Jellö by Kraft Foods, Inc. and have also been nominated for a Grammy) take a cartoonish approach to songwriting by twisting nursery rhymes and fairy tales into almost kid-friendly punk songs. And not surprisingly, satirical metalheads Psychostick seem to have an affinity for playing with rubber chickens. Although all three bands have distinctive musical styles, a collective sick sense of humor appears to be the glue holding the Parental Advisory Tour together. Oh, and potty-mouthed minors, you’re in luck: This is an all-ages show. $15, 8pm, Backstage Live, 1305 E. Houston St., (210) 224-2747.
