Slasher

Posted on Wed, May 12, 2010 at 4:00 AM

Release Date: 2010-05-12

Inspired by the making of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Allison Moore’s “horrifying comedy” Slasher follows Sheena, a burned-out waitress who lands the role of the “Last Girl” in Bloodbath, a low-budget horror flick. As Sheena is introduced to a world of eroticized violence and plastic gore, her feminist mother Frances flies into a self-medicated rage that threatens the production and its washed-up director. The opening night of Slasher — a play that promises to “make you laugh until you scream” — will benefit the North East School of the Arts’ NESA fund. $35, 8pm, AtticRep, Trinity University, One Trinity Place, Ruth Taylor Theatre Building, atticrep.org, brownpapertickets.com, continues through May 30 with tickets from $10.
