39th Texas Folklife Festival

Billed as the biggest cultural celebration in Texas, the Texas Folklife Festival is in its 39th year. Some 40 cultural groups will be on hand to showcase a diverse array of cuisine (Greek, Hawaiian, Indian, and Lebanese to name a few), music, dance, and arts and crafts. Among the featured entertainers are Los Texmaniacs, Kazamba Dance Group, Samba Vida Performance Co., San Antonio Lion Dance Association, and Cedryl Ballou & the Zydeco Trendsetters, as well as appearances by an odd variety of folks, including Tim St. John (the “rock ’n’ roll juggler”) and Donna Ingham, who’s held the title of Biggest Liar for the past six years. $10 in advance (available online and at H-E-B stores), $15 at the gate, 5-11pm Friday, 11am-11pm Saturday, noon-7pm Sunday, Institute of Texan Cultures, 801 E.
