Tito el Bambino

Posted on Wed, Jun 23, 2010 at 4:00 AM

Critic's Pick Release Date: 2010-06-23

It should come as no surprise that Tito El Bambino, who rose to fame in his native Puerto Rico as one-half of reggaetón duo Hector & Tito, is also a star in Jamaica (reggaetón is rooted in Jamaican dancehall as well as a slew of other musical genres). If you listen to as much pop en español as Señor Calendario does, then Tito el Bambino’s tropical ballad “El Amor” has probably been stuck in your head ? which really isn’t much to complain about: The song’s pop-cumbia beat and sappy-yet-sincere lyrics ? especially the ones citing orbiting clouds to describe love’s dizzying and blinding effects ? render 29 year-old bambino Efrain David Fines Nevares’s pervasive chart-topper refreshingly sweet ? and possibly even timeless. $30 ($75 VIP package includes pre-concert reception and meet and greet), doors at 8pm, Lonestar Pavilion at Sunset Station, 1174 E. Commerce, (210) 474-7640, sunset-station.com, ticketmaster.com.
