Lords of Acid, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Blownload, DJ Deathwish

Posted on Wed, Aug 4, 2010 at 4:00 AM

Critic's Pick Release Date: 2010-08-04

With an online fan base known as “Children of Acid,” and album titles like Expand Your Head, it should come as no surprise that Lords of Acid frontman Praga Khan (née Maurice Engelen) credits “extensive experimentation with drugs” (as well as “esoteric paths of self-deprivation and mutilation”) for his staying power on the industrial music scene. Twenty-two years after the release of the sexually explicit single “I Sit on Acid,” Khan has tapped Texan reality-show queen Lacey Conner (who placed third on both Rock of Love and Rock of Love: Charm School and is a founding member of the Dallas-based based band Nocturne) as lead vocalist for Lords of Acid. Formed to soundtrack the never-made film Hammerhead Housewife and the Thrill Kill Kult, rowdy, raunchy, kissing cousins My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult join LOA for the “Sextreme Ball,” an orgiastic celebration of “industrial decadence,” “blatant Satanism,” and “sexual deviancy,” that will undoubtedly revisit the golden age of Wax Trax! Records with classics like “Kooler Than Jesus” and “The Devil Does Drugs.” $22 in advance, $26 day of show, 8pm, Scout Bar, 19314 281 N #110, (210) 494-7700, scoutbarsa.com, sextremeball.com. Also on the bill: Blownload and DJ Deathwish.
