Body Talk Pt. 2
Composer: Robyn
Conductor: Robyn
Label: Cherrytree
Release Date: 2010-09-08
Rated: NONE
Genre: Recording

She’s tough enough to earn Parental Advisory stickers, support Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet Tour, and guide Britney Spears through a post-lunacy comeback. She collaborates with Snoop Dogg, but sounds more at home backed by fellow Swede Carl Bagge’s progressive string arrangements. On Body Talk Pt. 2, synthpop pixie Robyn puts her stylistic and vocal range to good use in “Hang With Me,” and “Indestructable.” While the latter pleasantly brings to mind her string-heavy electro ballad “With Every Heart Beat,” and reveals Kate Bush as an influence, Body Talk Pt. 2 has too much rehashed ’90s-era filler for an eight-track “mini-album” (one of three releases in the Body Talk trio). Why the album’s two gems couldn’t coexist on the same CD with Body Talk Pt. 1’s “Dancing on My Own” and “None of Dem” (with Norwegian electro duo Royksopp) and Speak Your Body: Body Talk Pt. 3’s yet-to-drop standouts is anyone’s guess. But I plan to make a playlist of my own — simply titled “Body Talk.”
