Critic's Pick Release Date: 2011-04-27

The first of three upcoming adults-only “Cocktails & Culture” events at the Witte lures grownups to the museum for a unique evening of schmoozing and boozing. Centered around the “Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes and Other Riches” exhibit, “Snakes and Samba” offers such exotic opportunities as “meeting live piranhas, petting a slithering boa constrictor,” as well as tamer features like samba lessons, live music by Quintet Con Clave, complimentary nibbles, a cash bar, and a jungle-themed photo op in the “wild rainforest of the Amazon” (prop clothing will be available onsite, but feel free to dress adventurously). $20 (at wittemuseum.org or at the door); $15 for Witte members; 6-9pm, Witte Museum, 3801 Broadway, (210) 357-1900, wittemuseum.org.
