Urban-15's Hot Hot Hot Latin dance class for seniors

Down on South Presa Street, in an old converted church, the URBAN-15 Group is a hotbed of creative activity. URBAN-15 is a San Antonio-based nonprofit arts group that creates educational programs, events, and performances dedicated to music, movement, and media. Through the practice and performance of these three arts disciplines, URBAN-15 inspires creativity, confidence, community, and culture.

If you visit URBAN-15 on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons you'll catch the Hot Hot Hot Latin Dance Class for Seniors in the upstairs studio. As neighborhood senior citizens show up to get their move on, they're greeted with a personal touch by Music and Media Director George Cisneros and Catherine Cisneros, artistic director and class instructor. When this beautiful group of elders following Catherine's lead begin moving to the beat, it's a joy to behold. Catch the great hats in the video.

Besides the activities for seniors, URBAN-15 cultivates music, dance and media for youth and special-needs populations. They have a wealth of information on their website about their programming.  While you're there, check out their future plans to transform their campus into URBAN-15’s Center for Celebration Arts in Southside San Antonio, to include a 200-seat auditorium, rehearsal and classroom spaces, and offices. With its diversity of programs and projects, URBAN-15 is continuing to expand its broad vision of arts creation.

Visiting the hot Latin dance class made my day, and you might see me there in the not-too-distant future.
