Moving Planet event demands a move beyond fossil fuels

Posted By on Sat, Sep 24, 2011 at 4:53 PM

San Antonio joined cities around the world in organizing to demand the nation's of the Earth move beyond fossil fuels, largely responsible for the climate change already changing the face of the planet. Moving Planet organizers claim 2,000 events are being held in 175 countries today. Speakers at the Pearl Brewery Complex in SA included Texas A&M climate scientists Gunnar Schade and Gerald North (read my interview with North about the role of climate change in our just-expired hottest summer on record), state Rep. Mike Villarreal, and Congressman Lloyd Doggett. We're prettying up for the Current's 25th anniversary birthday bash tonight with hopes of adding some thoughts on the event later by early next week, but here are some pics to show it really did in fact happen.
