Dan Patrick (R-Houston) and Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson, Dewhurst’s call to impeach the Democratic president seems to be a pretty clear and brazen attempt to win affection from the loyal Tea Party crowd who previously couldn't quite warm up to the incumbent. As the Observer notes, “rarely has so high-profile a state political figure as Dewhurst called for impeachment.”
