Update 12:16 p.m.: Story updated to clarify Martin Lewis' role with the Patron Motorcycle Club.

A former San Antonio Police Department detective is among the nearly 200 arrests following a fatal biker brawl in Waco on Sunday.

Martin Lewis, a 32-year veteran of the SAPD, is charged with engaging in organized crime — the charge all 170 people arrested initially face, according to Waco police.

"At this time, we have no other information available, beyond what is in this release," SAPD police spokesman Javier Salazar said in a statement to media confirming the connection.

However, the specific allegations of involvement Lewis is accused of are not clear. He retired from the SAPD in 2004, Salazar said.

The San Antonio Express-News reports that Lewis has ties to the Bandidos and is Patron Motorcycle Club member. Lewis, however, isn't a member of the Patron Motorcycle Club.

Greg Browning, aka Patrón ZZ, executive director of the Patron Motorcycle Club told the San Antonio Current that Lewis left the club to join a red-and-gold support club about a year ago.

"He was executive president for 9 years, but decided he wanted to move," Browning said.

The Patron Motorcycle Club's members are mostly comprised of veterans and active duty service members, Browning said.

Of the fatalities in Waco, only one was from the area.

A New Braunfels man named Jesus Delgado Rodriguez, 65, was killed by gunshot wounds to the "head and trunk" during the Sunday melee, the Dallas Morning News reported.

A total of 9 people died and nearly 20 were injured.
