This Is The Weekend For Pet Adoption

That saying 'raining cats and dogs' holds more true than you think.

The Animal Care Services (ACS) announced in a press release that the agency generally sees an increase in lost pets during rainy weather. ACS states, "Storms can translate into misbehavior and fear for pets scared of the thunder and pounding rain." As a result, kennels are full of animals looking to be adopted or reunited with their families.

As a result of the vast amount of rain San Antonio has seen throughout the last month, ACS has initiated an adoption special, “Raining Cats and Dogs" adoption pawty, in hopes of finding homes for the animals filling their kennels.

Running from today until Sunday, ACS offers adopters $25 dog adoptions and $15 cat adoptions, which will include the animals' sterilization, vaccination and lifetime microchip.

ACS is located at 4710 State Highway 151 off Old Highway 90.

Pet adoption is also available this weekend at the Bark in the Park Perrito Grito Adoption Event on Saturday, May 23. San Antonio Pets Alive! will be sponsoring the event from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Rosendale Park (340 Dartmouth St.).

The "one-of-a-kind pet event" will include pet adoptions, free onsite spay/neuter and microchipping, low-cost vaccinations, food trucks, pet contests, kids activities, and live music.
