Doyle Beneby, the outgoing president and CEO of CPS Energy, will head the nation's largest municipally-owned utility for another month.

Beneby originally planned to leave CPS Energy at the end of September. But the utility’s board of directors asked him to delay his departure by a month, according to the San Antonio Express-News. Beneby’s last day on the job will now be October 30.

Beneby helmed CPS for five years, broadening the company’s investment in renewable energy. He left the job to head New Generation Power International, a renewable energy company in Chicago.

Paula Gold-Williams, CPS’ chief financial officer, will take over as interim CEO on November 1. The search for Beneby’s permanent replacement is underway, but still in the preliminary stages. No candidates for the job have been announced yet.
