Bastrop County Fire Burns 250 Acres

Update, 9:11 a.m.: What officials are calling the Hidden Pines Fire has now burned 375 acres and is estimated to be 50 percent contained. Original post continues below:

Bastrop County is burning.



The fire started yesterday near Smithville, Texas, prompting evacuations as it grew through the afternoon.

Bastrop County Emergency Management officials reported on Facebook this morning that the fire burned 250 acres and was 30 percent contained.

Officials with the National Weather Service are urging caution today. And that warning extends to Bexar County, where fire conditions are elevated.
