Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge was named to the 2016 Western Conference All-Star team today as a reserve.

This is Aldridge's fifth All-Star appearance, his first as a Spur. He's played in the game every year since 2012.

Aldridge made the team despite averaging 15.9 points per game, the second fewest of his career. But he's rebounding at the second highest rate of his career. And his defensive rating, which measures the number of points scored against his team per 100 possessions while he's on the floor, is the highest it's ever been.

Aldridge will join teammate Kawhi Leonard on the All-Star squad. Leonard will start the game, which will be his first appearance as an All-Star. Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich will coach the Western Conference team.

Aldridge, along with the other All-Star reserves, was selected by NBA coaches to participate in the game. The other Western Conference reserves include Klay Thompson and Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors, New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul, Houston Rockets guard James Harden and Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins.

The game will be played in Toronto on Sunday, February 14 and broadcast on TNT.
