When people's free speech and sexuality bug the large majority of Americans, local governments probably receive gigabytes of all-cap emails written by people who want to make America great again.

But when sexuality and free speech combine to make a convention, one Dallas billionaire's concerns won't fall in the spam box or be quickly deleted.

The Dallas Morning News reports that North Texas real estate mogul Ray Hunt emailed Dallas' City Council asking them to stop a scheduled sex convention that is scheduled for August. Dallas City Council will vote Wednesday on whether to bar the convention from the city-owned Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center.

It's not that Hunt's against freedom of speech, he says in the email, it's that a city-owned property is no place for free speech or sexuality, Hunt wrote, according to The Dallas Morning News.

A quote from Hunt's email in that story reads:

“Obviously, ‘Freedom of Speech’ is foundational to American society — and my letter does not question the right of EXXXOTICA to have a ‘convention,’” Hunt writes. “The real issue is the venue and whether the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center is the proper venue for an EXXXOTICA ‘convention’ versus some other venue in the greater Dallas area that is not owned by the City of Dallas and is more than 1,000 feet from the set of ‘protected’ activities and uses in that portion of Dallas’ City Code which deals with sexually-oriented businesses.”

Last year, there was a similar controversy when Dallas' mayor tried to cancel the expo or kick it out of the city-owned convention center.

The convention's organizer told The Dallas Morning News that they've submitted paper work to the convention center, which can't discriminate based on content, and are awaiting final approval and looking forward to returning.
