Your driving 5 mph over the speed limit on the country's fastest highway (85 mph) could be coming to an end.

The Texas Tribune broke the news Wednesday afternoon that the SH 130 Concession Company, a partnership between Alamo City-based Zachry American Infrastructure and Spanish company Cintra, filed for bankruptcy.

The highway, which runs east of the Interstate 35 corridor between the north side of Austin and the southern edge of San Antonio, was hailed as a way to ease congestion via the toll road between the crowded cities.

However, ridership was low and revenues fell, according to the Texas Tribune.

SH 130 Concession Company CEO Alfonso Orol released a statement to the Tribune that says the stretch of highway will stay open during bankruptcy proceedings and have no financial impact on the Lone Star State.
