Might as well just say it now: turn around, don't drown.

Severe weather is expected to strike San Antonio Monday night into Tuesday followed by more storms, which could be stronger, overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio.

The first round of storms will develop near the Big Bend region tonight and shift toward the Hill Country and Edwards Plateau overnight. Large hail and strong winds are a possibility, but the NWS expects the system to weaken as it approaches the I-35 corridor Tuesday morning.

However, storms are likely to pop up just west of that same corridor Tuesday afternoon and evening, with possibilities for hail, wind and even a tornado threat, according to NWS. Locally heavy rain from one to three inches is possible, with up to four inches possible in isolated areas.

The NWS says it will continue to monitor and update its outlook as the storms draw closer. Follow the weather organization on Facebook for updates.

Meteorologists recommend staying informed and preparing for action in case of threatening weather before going to bed, like having a flashlight ready and a charged smartphone or radio close by for weather alerts.
