Dogs are seriously the best. They're always down to eat, they love you unconditionally and they're tons of fun to play with. You always have a buddy by your side if you have a pup, but just imagine if you could have two exact copies of that perfect dog you call your best bud.

According to KDKA, there's a veterinary practice in Cedar Park (you know, the wicked nice Austin suburb) that's taking the "fiction" out of science fiction in regards to cloning. ViaGen Pets preserves your dog's DNA, usually a skin sample, and maintains it in a cryo-storage facility.

Your dog's frozen DNA is then joined with a donor egg to produce an embryo and implanted into a surrogate animal. An identical twin is delivered to you after a normal reproduction period. The entire process takes 6 to 7 months.

Melain Rodriguez, manager at ViaGen Pets, tells KDKA that the company has been cloning animals for 15 years, and they currently have a waiting list if you want to clone your pet.

This process isn't exclusive to dogs — ViaGen also clones cattle, horses, pigs, sheep and cats. Genetically cloning dogs costs $50,000, however, cats costs about half that price.
