San Antonio Could Soon Be Home to World's Tallest Ferris Wheel

The Alamo City's skyline may be changing. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) received a mysterious proposal to build a Ferris wheel as tall as 900 feet here in San Antonio.

That's hundreds of feet taller than the city's existing tallest structure, the Tower of the Americas.

The proposal was submitted in October, alongside a request for a study to build the structure. As proposed, it would be the largest Ferris wheel in the world. The current largest is in Dubai at 668 feet, though still under construction.

Perhaps the most interesting piece of information (or rather, lack thereof) is that the developer behind the proposal is unknown. The FAA is keeping mum, too. City and county officials told WOAI that they didn't know about the proposal. The cost of the whopping structure is unknown at this time.

If the Ferris wheel does indeed come into fruition, it's expected to be located near Loop 410 and the Mission Trail, near Lone Star Brewery.
