Government Canyon Employees Alert Visitors After Rattlesnake Found Near Parking Lot

Posted By on Wed, Mar 7, 2018 at 12:08 PM

The Government Canyon State Natural Area shared a picture to its Facebook earlier this week showing a rattlesnake that was caught sliding around the state park.

According to the post, the rattlesnake was more active due to the warmer weather we had during the weekend. A resource specialist with the park told the San Antonio Express-News that the snake was probably "sunning himself."

After a park employee found the rattlesnake near a parking lot of the visitor's center, they relocated it away to a closed section of the park.

Naturally, Facebook users left comments about being more careful in the area, as well as others who weren't bothered by the rattlesnake. Stay on top of San Antonio news and views. Sign up for our Weekly Headlines Newsletter.
