San Antonio may not be the best place to live in America (heck, not even in Texas), but it still earned a respectable ranking at 14.

U.S. News & World Report released a list of the 125 Best Places to Live in the USA, analyzing metro cities for their value, desirability, job market and quality of life.

Do the math and that makes San Antonio the 14th best city with an overall score of 7.1 out of 10. The detailed report asks what it's like to live in the Alamo City.
San Antonio is as comfortable as an old pair of jeans. It offers big-city amenities and world-renowned attractions coupled with a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
I don't know anyone under the age of 40 that wears jeans anymore, but okay.  The report continues:
San Antonio offers more than 50 major events and festivals throughout the year, including the Ford Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony, the Texas Folklife Festival and the famous Fiesta, a spirited 10-day salute to the Spanish heritage with numerous events citywide.
The Spanish heritage? While most San Antonians don't reflect on the inspiration behind Fiesta (because who wants to think of war when slamming back beer and chicken-on-a-stick?), I'm pretty sure Fiesta has nothing to do with the Spanish heritage. It all began to "honor the heroes" of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto.

Other than that, the report is pretty accurate. The attraction to San Antonio is largely due to the value – the cost of living is less than the national average. The weather is pretty great, too. Yeah, the summers are brutal, but would you rather have to put up with freezing temperatures and endless snow? Exactly.

Topping the list is none other than Austin, finishing with a 7.7 score. The state capital pulled through at number 1, basically for South By Southwest and all things music. I guess being the live music capital of the world pays off.
