President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he will sign "something" to reverse the "zero-tolerance" policy that has separated immigrant families attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border.

After criticism and outrage from both political parties, Trump said he will either support a bill that would reverse the policy or would take executive action to change it, according to multiple reports.
The announcement comes after criticism and outrage from both political parties. The Trump administration had previously been unwilling to reverse the policy in spite of outrage, with Trump even saying he would support one of two House bills that would extend the time immigrant children can be held after crossing the border illegally with their families.

"We have to be very strong on the border but at the same time we want to be very compassionate," Trump said during a Wednesday meeting with lawmakers.

Also on Wednesday, Trump sent out a tweet that hinted at a resolution – or at the least the beginning of one. The latest development is that family separations will only be stopped temporarily.
