An alliance called Climate Action SA wants to hear from San Antonio residents about their environmental concerns — all of San Antonio.

The group will hold a facilitated talk — billed as a "Climate Plática" — Saturday at Esperanza Peace and Justice Center to help localize and contextualize the idea of environmental justice and often-abstract concepts like global warming, pollution and sprawl. The meeting will run from 1-4 p.m.

"Certain areas of town and certain demographics are more involved with decision-making in city government and CPS Energy than others," said Briauna Barrera of Public Citizen, an event organizer. "Poorer, browner populations are often missing in these conversations, even when not intentionally excluded. These communities are also often most affected by climate change and air pollution, even as they contribute to it the least."

In addition to Public Citizen and Esperanza, Climate Action SA's members include the Texas Sierra Club, Sierra Club Alamo Group, Moms Clean Air Force and San Antonio Democratic Socialists of America.
