Don't count Sen. John Cornyn among those swayed by Christine Blasey Ford's testimony Thursday morning, according to tweets from CNN reporter Manu Raju.

During a break in the hearing, the Texas Republican told Raju he was unmoved by Blasey Ford's testimony describing an alleged sexual assault by then-teenaged Brett Kavanaugh.

“Basically, she’s repeating what we already knew, which is she believes something happened," said Cornyn, the Senate's 2nd-ranked Republican. "She believes it was Brett Kavanaugh, but everybody she claims was in the house denies having any knowledge of it. There is no corroboration.”

Never mind, of course, that thorough corroboration would require the committee calling more people than Blasey Ford to testify — say, Mark Judge, the Kavanaugh friend allegedly present during the encounter. Or urging the White House to open an FBI investigation into the charge.
Raju apparently was headed down that line of questioning before Cornyn beat feet out of the hallway.

The reporter tweeted: "Just asked John Cornyn why not have Mark Judge testify, he said: 'He delivered a sworn statement,' and he entered his office."

Cornyn plans to run for reelection in 2020. Last we checked, he'll need the support of women to stay in office.
