A man was killed by SAPD officers early Wednesday morning.

According to reports, officers shot the suspect in downtown San Antonio just before 1 a.m. Wednesday. Police were dispatched to the area after receiving calls about a man with a gun.

Officers found a man in his 20s who became aggressive, requiring the officers to use a taser. Police said the taser had no effect on the man, who they said pulled a gun on them near the Commerce and Navarro intersection.

Reports state the man fired one round, though no one was struck. SAPD Chief William McManus said both officers returned fire, striking the man multiple times.

The suspect was declared dead at the scene.

McManus said the two officers have been placed on administrative duty pending the investigation. One is a 17-year veteran of the force while the other has been with the department for less than two years.
