Former S.A. Mayor and HUD Secretary Julián Castro is meeting with potential supporters about a potential bid for the White House in 2020, according to news reports.

The 44-year-old Democrat last month said he'd "likely" run for president, and he's done all sorts of things to hint that's the case, from publishing an autobiography to putting in a recent appearance in Iowa.

Castro recently assembled about 20 potential donors in the Alamo City to listen to his pitch, Politico first reported. Among the attendees: Houston attorney Scott Atlas and Castro's brother, U.S. Rep. Joaquín Castro.

While San Antonio-born Castro would bring Hispanic star power to a 2020 Democratic ticket, he's one of many potential high-profile contenders.

Former Obama veep Joe Biden, Democratic rock star Beto O'Rourke and a raft of U.S. Senators — Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker and Kamala Harris — have all been bandied about as possible challengers to country's first reality-show president.
