A day after former San Antonio mayor Julián Castro said he'll soon announce his official decision about running for president, his twin brother Joaquin went on national television and declared it a done deal.

Whether it's just wishful thinking or the truth, Joaquin — a Democratic congressman — committed his brother to running for president during an appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Ever the politician, Julián told Colbert he'll make an official announcement Jan. 12, but the host kept pressing for a definite answer.
Joaquin jumped in and spoke for his brother.

"He's going to run for president," Joaquin said. "How about that?"

The crowd erupted in cheers.

"I have heard from someone very close to you that you are running for president," Colbert joked.

While the Castro twins have been San Antonio household names for the past two decades, Julián first became a national figure in 2012 after his keynote address at the Democratic National Convention. His profile jumped again two years later when he joined former President Barack Obama's cabinet. He was also on a short list of vice presidential picks for Hillary Clinton.

This time around, all signs point to Julián making a 2020 run for the White House. During the midterm elections he made appearances in the early caucus state of Iowa, and just this week formed a presidential exploratory committee, a common move ahead of announcing an intent to run.

You can watch the Castro twins' full appearance below.
