A local church has organized a prayer service for King Jay Davila on Friday evening, scheduled exactly a week after his father said the 8-month-old baby was kidnapped from a West Side convenience store.

Last Chance Ministries is inviting San Antonians to take part in a prayer service at Monterrey Park at 7 p.m. on Friday in honor of King Jay. Police have been unable to locate the baby and suspect family members staged the kidnapping to cover up "foul play."

"This gathering, this prayer is to bring awareness, to let the people know that there's still hope," Pastor Jimmy Robles told KSAT. "And we pray for nothing but the best – that he comes back safely from wherever he's at."

Anyone, no matter their religion, is welcome to attend the service, Robles added.

King Jay's family said the baby was kidnapped last Friday after his father, Christopher Davila, left him in an unlocked car while making a purchase at a convenience store. After he went inside, a woman got into the car and drove off, abandoning the vehicle near a park a few miles away.

Police later identified the woman as Angie Torres, Christopher Davila's cousin. Chief William McManus said that police believed the kidnapping was staged to cover up "foul play." Christopher Davila was arrested on a child endangerment charge but is out on bond, while Torres was arrested on an unrelated aggravated robbery charge.

During a Wednesday press conference, SAPD Sgt. Jesse Salame said citizens can help the investigation by coming forward with details.

"No matter how insignificant you think that it is, if you saw something or heard something, call it in," Salame said.
