The late Isaac and Judith Maxwell became well known for their King William shop, which sold distinctive punched-metal light fixtures that became popular in high-end homes all over San Antonio. Turns out the couple’s crafty streak also extended to home renovation.
A two-bedroom, two-bath King William home lovingly restored by the pair during the 1970s has hit the market for $1.4 million, and it’s full of distinctive touches inside and out that bear their handiwork.
Built in 1900, the home features a massive wraparound porch and all the intricate millwork common to the King William neighborhood. The interior, which the Maxwells took down to the studs, showcases its long-leaf pine floors and ceilings, along with plenty of meticulous woodwork.
The Maxwells spent 40 years living in the two-story home, which the property said “exudes warmth, charm, and whimsy.”
