Sea Island Shrimp House has been often imitated, but it’s hard to beat its nearly 60-year history. The first location opened in 1965 behind North Star Mall, and its loyal following has helped it add six more San Antonio stores. The menu includes not just fried favorites but grilled treasures from the deep. Barclay Anthony, son of Sea Island co-founders Dan and Crissy Anthony, still overseas the business and growing the menu, which has expanded to include more contemporary items such as shrimp campechana and teriyaki-style chicken and shrimp.
