Another demonstration against overreach by President Donald Trump and tech billionaire-turned-pseudo-government-official Elon Musk will take place Tuesday outside San Antonio City Hall.

The 50501 Movement, a grassroots organization established to protect the Constitution and civil liberties, will hold the rally from noon to 4 p.m. at 100 Military Plaza. It will coincide with other 50501-sponsored protests at city halls and capitol buildings in all 50 states, according to organizers.

The group aspires to counter Trump’s authoritarian policies and the influence of billionaires in politics while defending civil liberties, officials said. Organizers also hope to draw attention to the spate federal job cuts directed by Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE.

Indeed, the Express-News reported Monday that more than $45 million in federal contracts awarded to San Antonio nonprofits and other entities have been canceled since Trump took office in January.

With 240,000 jobs in Bexar and surrounding counties directly or indirectly related to the U.S. government, the area also stands to lose big as DOGE continues to swing the ax at federal jobs.
