It’s a bar! It’s a house! It’s Bar House!

Bar House has officially opened just north of downtown, turning a historic home into a three-level nightlife spot. Not far from the VFW bend on the San Antonio River, the historic home located at 820 Alamo Street was built as a private residence in 1930.

The bar has maintained some of the house’s historic features in its extensive renovations, from the siding to its double doors, the Express-News reports. However, the business has also changed the property significantly, adding multicolor paneling and chandeliers and opening up the floor plan. Those who are curious can take a full drone tour on the bar’s Instagram.

Renovations to the building also include a three-story deck addition showcasing panoramic city skyline views from its rooftop patio.

The bar is a concept by owner Nick Marquez, who had to seek approval from the Historical Commission to build the three-story rear addition onto the landmark property.

In addition to boasting three full bars throughout the building, Bar House will have regular DJ sets as well as a to-be-announced happy hour menu.

Bar House is open 4-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 2 p.m.-2 a.m. Friday noon-2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
