A Seguin Independent School District 5th grader was arrested Wednesday on allegations that they brought a bag of a blow to school, the Express-News reports.

Administrators at Jefferson Elementary School contacted the campus’ security officer about a “small, clear bag containing a white substance” on Wednesday morning, according to the article.

Seguin police promptly tested the bag’s contents, which were confirmed to be cocaine hydrochloride, MySA reports.

“The Seguin Police Department would like to express that we are committed to ensuring the safety of all students and staff within our schools and appreciate the cooperation of campus administrators,” Seguin police said in a statement.

The 10-year-old suspect was charged with possession of a substance in a drug-free zone and sent to Guadalupe County Juvenile Probation Department.

It remains unclear where or how the child obtained the bag of yeyo.

In an email to parents, Jefferson Elementary Principal Maria Guerra said the school took appropriate disciplinary based on campus policies and the law.

“This serves as a reminder of the importance of discussing the dangers of drugs with our children and encouraging them to report any concerning situations to an adult,” Guerra wrote.
