By now you’ve likely heard that our leading Republican candidate for governor and state attorney general, Greg Abbott, is frolicking on the campaign trail with washed up 70s rock star and right-wing poster child, Ted Nugent. Abbott’s choice to invite Nugent— a notorious sexist, known for inflammatory remarks aimed at women, African-Americans and Democrats (like, most recently, calling President Obama a “subhuman mongrel”)— along the trail, elicited major backlash from political and advocacy groups. You’d think it would be political suicide to publicly befriend a sexual predator while lauding your record of cracking down on sexual crimes but apparently the AG has no regrets. Behold some of Nugent’s most classy gems (coincidently, his only relevant material since the 70s):
