The 1604/Babcock area is about to get a little more gregarious. Jody and Steve Newman, the husband-and-wife team behind The Friendly Spot, Alamo Street Eat Bar and B&D Ice House, have purchased Hills & Dales Ice House, the 50-year-old institution that’s a haven for both bikers and beer fans.
Though a few tweaks are still in the works, the Newman’s are keeping the vibe of the place, which sits at 15403 White Fawn Drive on a 3/4 acre tract of land, intact.
“We heard a rumor that it was for sale so we approached the owner … we’re only the third owners ever,” Jody Newman said over the phone. “We want to reimagine it and still haven’t decided on all improvements, but we want to keep it Hills & Dales. It’s got a soul.”
The barn-style edifice is complete with a side patio deck, and large rear parking.
